Alcohol has played a very prominent role in American culture for quite some time, but currently we are starting to see a change from this lifestyle. In 2021, it was found that 60% of American adults drank alcohol, which is already down 5% from 2019, and still on the way down today. Although there are people who suffer from alcoholism who are getting sober, this number comes from the trend of people actively questioning their relationship with alcohol. One of the trends that is helping lower the alcohol rate in America is Dry January. Dry January is where people commit to not drinking any alcohol during the month of January, similar to men not shaving in No Shave November. Studies have found that 22% of Americans continue to be sober even after Dry January. Another trend that helps in lowering the alcohol rate is the opening of Non-Alcoholic bars. These bars still have the same ambience as any other bar, but instead they serve all non-alcoholic mocktails, beers, and wines. This allows adults to have the same fun and reason to get together with their friends, without having the pressure to drink alcohol every time.
