Although I have been with her the past 21 years, I have recently learned a lot from my mom through her new book "A Gift for Life: Skills Everyone Needs to Win". One of the main topics in her book is remembering names and I think it is one of the greatest skills she has taught me. I recently was at one of her book signings and participated in her game of meeting at least two new people and making sure you remember their names at the end of it. However, the key to the game is that you don't just ask their name, but you really talk to them and get to know them. She uses the acronym "FORM" to help you learn more about them and make it easier to remember their name. "FORM" stands for Family, Occupation, Recreation, and what Matters.
Remembering someone's name can be a powerful tool in building relationships and making a positive impression. When we remember someone's name, it shows that we value and respect them as an individual, and it helps to establish a sense of trust. This is especially important in business and networking settings, where making a good impression can lead to new opportunities and partnerships. Overall, while it can be challenging to remember names, making the effort to do so can have a lasting impact on our relationships and interactions with others. So next time you talk to someone, use "FORM" and really get to know them and remember their name!
